All about beer
Beer was stored in clear glass and when left in the sun for too long, it started to smell “skunky” – like a skunk, literally. This was because the clear glass allowed UV rays to penetrate the beer and alter the flavour. The solution was turning bottles brown , a darker colour which would block out the rays.
In the United States and Canada, large bottles are 22 U.S. fl oz (650.6 ml; 22.9 imp fl oz), or one-sixth of a US gallon (colloquially called a “bomber”or a “deuce, deuce” or “double deuce”). Some breweries also choose to use 500 ml (16.9 U.S. fl oz; 17.6 imp fl oz) bottles, often for smaller batches of beer.
We’re exaggerating, but Corona and other beers bottled in clear or green glass have developed a reputation as smelling “skunky” or spoiled. That’s because they are. However, when a beer is exposed to UV light (say, the kind found in the sun), the light destroys the iso-alpha acids.
While not all old bottles are valuable , an older bottle is more likely to be worth more than a newer one. Seams and pontil marks are two of the ways you can determine a bottle’s age. The pontil mark is the mark at the bottom of the bottle where it was attached to the glass blower’s pontil rod.

The bottles go through a machine that douses them in boiling water and/or steam to kill any bacteria that might have made it through the brewing and packaging processes alive. Glass can easily withstand that heat. Plastic can’t.

The 330ml serving seems to have originally come from the American use of fluid ounces, whereas the 500ml serving has come from the more European use of a half litre. Pubs in the UK are used to serving beer in pints, or half pints, but hardly any bottled beer is sold this way. So, we decided to look at bigger bottles .
Summary. If you order a Corona or any similar beer at the bar, the bartender will serve it with a slice of lemon or lime . The citrus slice helps to disinfect the bottle’s neck, improve beer taste, and look nice.
It has a light, sweet flavor. This beer is better than Corona . The reason is that it tastes the same as Corona , but is smoother and does not have the Corona after taste that will keep women from kissing you. Love yuengling and Sam Adams stuff but once I got ahold of landshark the rest is history!
Beer typically lasts for six to nine months past the expiration date on its label. If the beer is refrigerated , it can last up to two years beyond the expiration date.
The embossed maker’s mark or letters on the side of a bottle or on the base of a bottle will help to reveal a bottle’s age. Marks or letters on collectible milk bottles and Coca Cola bottles are commonly indicators of age and origin.
All containers > 630 mls are worth 20 cents . The only exception is cans; all cans under 1 litre are worth 10 cents , and those 1 litre and above are worth 20 cents .
To find the markings, examine the bottle carefully. The side of the bottle may be printed with the product or manufacturer’s name, and this can be helpful in identifying your find. Also turn the bottle over. Many bottles have marks on the bottom, and these are important signatures of bottle manufacturers.
